Sparks in the Dark is a powerful exhibition that honours the strength, creativity, and resistance of Afghan women living under the shadow of war and oppression. Created by emerging artists Mursal Azizi and Kat Rae, the exhibition features 208 hand-embroidered handkerchiefs made by over 30 women in Afghanistan. Each handkerchief represents one week since the Taliban returned to power—four years of resilience in the face of erasure.

These exquisite handkerchiefs are more than art; they are statements of defiance and hope. Each piece is unique, handcrafted with love and skill, and can be displayed, gifted, or used in your home. By purchasing one, you are directly supporting Afghan women artisans and owning a piece of living history.
