Maria's Story

My name is Maria, and I’m 28 years old. I hold a bachelor’s degree in mathematics. My dream was to become a university teacher. As a student, I worked hard to achieve high scores and secure my dream job. After graduating, I passed the test to start teaching at a university.

However, when the Taliban closed the universities, my dream slipped away, leaving an unforgettable scar on my heart and a lasting impact on my life.

With the restrictions on working outside the home, I turned to embroidery to support my family. For the past three years, I’ve been learning various designs to meet my clients’ needs. As a mother of two, I work hard to provide for them, and I also feel responsible for supporting my three younger brothers since my father passed away.

I hope this project continues, enabling me to better support my family. Your support would mean a great deal to us.
