Hoori Handmade at Refugee Cultural Day | June 2026 | Addison Road Community Centre, Sydney
We were honoured to be part of Refugee Cultural Day at Addison Road Community Centre in Marrickville, Sydney, joining refugee and migrant communities to celebrate culture, connection, resilience, and diversity.
At the Hoori Handmade stall, we shared the stories and handmade creations of Afghan women artisans, giving visitors an opportunity to learn about the women behind each piece and the realities they face in Afghanistan today. Through their embroidery and craftsmanship, these women continue to preserve cultural traditions while creating income and supporting themselves and their families.
It was wonderful to connect with people from many different communities, share our work, and have meaningful conversations about the importance of creating opportunities for Afghan women.
We extend our sincere thanks to Families for Palestine and Addison Road Community Centre for organising such a meaningful event and creating a platform where refugee communities could share their cultures, stories, and experiences with the wider community. We are also deeply grateful to Atefa and Ruqia for volunteering their time and supporting the Hoori Handmade stall throughout the day.
We are grateful to everyone who visited, listened, connected with the stories of the women behind our work, and supported Hoori Handmade.
