On Her Path: Retail Ready | 21 October – 1 November 2026 | South Melbourne Market, Melbourne
We are delighted to be one of six Victorian women-led businesses participating in On Her Path: Retail Ready, an initiative supporting women founders from first-generation migrant and refugee backgrounds to develop their businesses and gain practical retail experience.
Developed by In Her Name by the Australian Multicultural Foundation, in partnership with South Melbourne Market and supported by National Fashion College, the program brings together women entrepreneurs for practical training, mentoring and hands-on experience in a retail environment.
As part of the program, Hoori Handmade is showcasing a collection of handmade products created by women artisans in Afghanistan at SO Space, South Melbourne Market. Visitors can explore traditional Afghan embroidery, handcrafted accessories and other unique pieces, each reflecting the creativity, cultural heritage and skills of the women behind them.
For Hoori Handmade, this opportunity represents an important step in reaching new audiences, strengthening our business and creating more sustainable income opportunities for Afghan women artisans. It also provides a space to connect directly with customers, share the stories behind the products and demonstrate how traditional craftsmanship can support women's economic independence.
We are grateful to In Her Name, the Australian Multicultural Foundation, South Melbourne Market and National Fashion College for creating this opportunity and supporting women-led businesses to grow.
Hoori Handmade will be at SO Space, South Melbourne Market, from 21 October to 1 November 2026. We warmly invite you to visit, explore the collection and support the women behind the work.
